ACOM Announces Vertical E-Commerce DMV Reporting Solution for Automobile Insurers
LONG BEACH, Calif.--Oct. 31, 2000--The departments of motor vehicles (DMVs) of an increasing number of states are mandating electronic communications for reporting insurance company policy information, and in response, ACOM Solutions Inc. has developed an e-commerce solution that fully automates electronic exchange of data between automobile insurance companies and the DMVs, it was announced today by James R. Scott, vice president of sales.The new EDI solution, Paragon/AIR (for Automobile Insurance Reporting), is based on ACOM's widely used Paragon/EDI-XML e-commerce solutions. The first implementation was at Countrywide Insurance Co., New York City, where ACOM implemented Paragon/AIR to comply with the State of New York DMV's new policyholder information reporting procedures.
"DMVs are asking insurance companies to provide information on policies issued, insured vehicles and policyholders, data which is typically found in multiple databases within the organization," Scott said.
"We were able to accommodate this complicated data structure and to deliver and fully implement our Paragon/AIR solution under a tight deadline, which demonstrates one of the key attributes of the product -- the ability to implement quickly and economically.
"Paragon/AIR complements existing EDI and e-commerce tools by providing an immediate solution to the DMV reporting requirement. It does so with a minimum of resources required from the insurance company, since ACOM assumes the burden of completing the iterative testing process with the DMVs. Countrywide was able to comply with New York's DMV on time and at a minimal cost."
Paragon/AIR is a turnkey package built on relational database technology that features the ability to access data directly from multiple databases and merge it into the format(s) specified by the respective state DMV, without intermediate flat files, vastly simplifying and accelerating the process. It provides its own document data entry and data management screens, which are operated through a point-and-click, drop-and-drag interface.
Data mapping is self-contained within Paragon/AIR, which has excellent data management capabilities and is surprisingly inexpensive.
Paragon/AIR self-manages communication and data translation automatically, allowing for 7/24 unmanned EDI operation. Four levels of security can be customized and managed by the users, with query and reporting (Q&R) data management functions separated from EDI configuration and setup activities for additional database security.
