Mitsubishi Motors Names Gael O'Brien to Head Corporate Communications
    CYPRESS, Calif., Oct. 31 As part of the integration of its
major U.S. subsidiaries, Mitsubishi Motors announces the promotion of Gael
O'Brien to vice president, corporate communications for Mitsubishi Motor Sales
of America, Inc. (MMSA).  She is responsible for corporate communications at
Mitsubishi's four subsidiaries:  Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc.
(MMSA), Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America, Inc. (MMMA), Mitsubishi
Motors R&D of America, Inc. (MRDA) and Mitsubishi Motors America, Inc. (MMA).
Her responsibilities include internal and external communications, media
relations, community relations and charitable giving as well as the Mitsubishi
Motors U.S.A. Foundation.
    O'Brien, who relocated to Cypress, CA, previously served as general
manager, corporate communications for Mitsubishi Motors Manufacturing of
America, Inc. (MMMA) in Normal, IL.  Before joining MMMA in 1996, O'Brien was
head of a strategic communications agency and director of marketing and public
relations for Price Waterhouse in Columbus, OH.
    O'Brien will work with members of the North American Operations Committee,
comprised of the most senior executives from Mitsubishi Motors' U.S.
automotive companies, to develop and implement the communications plan for
Mitsubishi Motors' consolidation in North America.
    "Corporate Communications is the first key support area to be fully
integrated," said Pierre Gagnon, executive vice president and chief operating
officer for MMSA.  "Mitsubishi Motors has great plans in the North American
market and we're confident that Gael's leadership will enhance our
consolidation efforts and create one voice for Mitsubishi Motors."

    Mitsubishi Motors' North American operations include:  Mitsubishi Motor
Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA), based in Cypress, CA, the sole distributor of
Mitsubishi-badged cars and light trucks in the American market through a
network of more than 500 dealers in 50 states; Mitsubishi Motor Credit of
America (MMCA) a wholly-owned finance subsidiary of MMSA; Mitsubishi Motor
Manufacturing of America, Inc. (MMMA), located in Normal, IL, produces the
Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder, and two models for
DaimlerChrysler Corporation;  Mitsubishi Motors Research and Development of
America, Inc. (MRDA), located in Ann Arbor, MI, and Cypress, CA, responsible
for the design and engineering of Mitsubishi products for the American market;
and Mitsubishi Motors America, Inc. (MMA), currently based in Southfield, MI,
oversees parts procurement for MMC and coordinates government relations in the
United States.
