Datron's Mobile Electronics Division Announces Low-Profile CruiseTV STS Satellite Tracking System; At Just 9-1/2 Inches, the STS Revolutionizes Mobile Entertainment
LAS VEGAS--Oct. 31, 2000--Datron/Transco's Mobile Electronics Division announced its latest in-motion satellite television tracking system, CruiseTV(TM) STS, the ideal mobile entertainment solution for full-size vans, minivans, SUVs, boats, buses and RVs.Datron/Transco is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Datron Systems, Incorporated .
Measuring only 9-1/2 inches in height, CruiseTV STS is the lowest-profile satellite tracking system on the market today. Available in two sleek aerodynamic designs, CruiseTV offers 200 channels of live, digital audio and video programming. This combination of leading-edge design and superior performance extends the reach of high quality on-the-go entertainment beyond traditional RV, bus and boat markets, and into the family vehicle segments of the automotive market.
"CruiseTV STS revolutionizes the mobile entertainment market," said Rick Carver, director of Datron's Mobile Electronics Division. "Until now, in-motion units have ranged from 15 to 22 inches in height. Our aerodynamic radomes measure just over nine inches high, are aesthetically compatible with vans and SUVs, and offer the same high-quality satellite television programming as the taller systems. Datron's CruiseTV STS was developed to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for live, mobile entertainment solutions that enhance the travel experience."
Datron's fourth-generation in-motion tracking system, CruiseTV STS, incorporates several industry-leading innovations, including the company's unique "Phase Combiner" technology that delivers high-quality digital broadcast satellite signals at a significantly reduced height. Datron's patented WhisperDrive(TM) technology ensures quick and quiet antenna tracking, and the slip-ring/rotary joint design of the STS allows continuous rotation of the antenna assembly for uninterrupted viewing, as there is no cable to unwrap.
The ultimate in programming choice, CruiseTV STS receives up to 200 channels of live programming from DIRECTV(R), while tracking the satellite at rates of up to 40 degrees per second, providing the superior performance required for vans and SUVs.
CruiseTV STS is receiver independent, eliminating the need for expensive satellite receivers with a low-speed data port. The CruiseTV STS can be connected to virtually any DIRECTV-configured satellite receiver with a single coaxial cable for low cost and easy installation.
"Datron's commitment to providing a cost-effective live satellite television solution to the mobile market is confirmed with our CruiseTV STS," Carver said.
Datron will be offering the CruiseTV STS through its nationwide OEM and dealer network at a list price of $3295. Orders placed now are scheduled for delivery in January 2001.
