Cellport Systems Completes Series C Round to Fuel Telematics DevelopmentBOULDER, Colo., Oct. 30 Cellport Systems further secured its leadership role in the telematics industry with today's announcement that the company completed its series C investment round, valued at $22.5 million. Cisco Systems, Inc. led this round of financing. Other investors include Rock Creek Capital, Alignment Capital Partners, and GLQ Entrepia, Inc. The company will use the new capital to accelerate development of advanced IP-based telematics products for the automotive and transportation industries. The funding also will expand applications for Cellport's universal hands-free platform. Cellport will collaborate with Cisco on product development with the goal of connecting commercial and passenger vehicles to the Internet. Cellport's first telematics product, the CP2100 Mobile Network Server integrates IP wireless data, GPS, vehicle bus interfaces with an embedded application platform. Leading vehicle manufacturers ranging from passenger cars to construction equipment are developing applications with the product.
