AMA: Randall Mennenga: Chevy Trucks Superbike rookie of the year
28 October 2000
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- AMA Pro Racing announced today that Randall Mennenga is the 2000 AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championship Rookie of the Year. The accolade is presented to the rider, who in his first full season as a Superbike license holder, gains the most points in the series. Mennenga, of Freeport, Ill., has held an AMA Pro Racing Expert license since 1997 and received his Superbike license in December 1999. During the 2000 season, Randall entered five Superbike events, two of which were double-headers, on his way to earning 22nd place overall in the championship standings. His best finish was 16th at Daytona, an impressive feat considering the talent-laden 52-rider field. Randall also spent time in the Lockhart Phillips 750cc SuperSport Series, where he finished 11th overall. Randall will receive the award during the 26th annual AMA Pro Racing Awards Banquet, set for December 8 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev.
