Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 27 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 375,003 units,
down from the 378,936 cars and trucks built last week, according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now
totals 15,134,241 vehicles, up 2.4 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 275,735 vehicles this
week, an increase of 1.1 percent from the 272,619 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date, calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
11,014,285 units, up 0.6 percent from the 10,951,894 vehicles built in like-
1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 58,450, a 7.0
percent decrease from the 62,878 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,514,791 units, down
0.7 percent compared to the 2,532,448 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S.,
General Motors Corp. accounted for 32.9 percent; Ford Motor Co., 30.0 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 14.9 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 4.7
percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.7 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 2.9
percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 2.9 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc., 1.6 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 2.0 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.7 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler, 0.4 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 0.7 percent; and
other manufacturers, 1.6 percent.
