Battenberg III, chairman, CEO and president, Delphi Automotive Systems Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, general manager, Delphi Aftermarket Operations The increasing impact of electronics in the aftermarket is a key driver for Delphi's presence at AAPEX. Electronics are revolutionizing products, services and business processes in this sector. Delphi's display (booth #5324) reflects this revolution with a preview of new technologies, highlights of the electronic content in today's vehicles and discussions of business processes to establish Delphi as the partner of choice for its customers in the United States and worldwide. Key Delphi innovations at AAPEX include: * High-quality, cutting-edge automotive electronics that will be offered to aftermarket retail customers throughout the world. * Technologically advanced automotive service solutions supplied to technicians via wireless handheld computers and personal digital assistants to access product, diagnostic and repair information without searching through traditional shop manuals. * An online product and service catalog that will result in enhanced accuracy and speed of access to current product information. * Branding and promotion plans to ensure Delphi products are recognized worldwide. Delphi will capitalize on its leadership in the Original Equipment (OE) market to grow in targeted segments of the aftermarket, especially in the areas of electronics and electronics service technologies. "This is the first time Delphi will be participating in the AAPEX show. We're looking forward to introducing the Delphi brand and highlighting the technologies and services we'll be offering our customers to help them win in the 'new economy'," said Francisco A. (Frank) Ordonez, general manager, Delphi Aftermarket Operations. Delphi has been serving the aftermarket since the 1900s, and is a recognized supplier of some of the world's highest quality OE replacement parts. Now, retail products, built to high-quality specifications, will be offered under the Delphi brand. The company formally announced plans to distribute Delphi branded products globally in October 1999. Since then, Delphi's aftermarket business has grown by launching operations in Europe, South America, Asia Pacific, Canada and Mexico. The company will introduce Delphi branded products in the United States in 2001. Simultaneously, Delphi will continue its relationship with General Motors' Service Parts Operation (SPO) and other valued customers. The strategic acquisitions of AP Lockheed Automotive and Lucas Diesel Systems, now called Delphi Lockheed Automotive and Delphi Diesel Systems respectively, brought Delphi numerous benefits, including an integrated sales force, broad marketing capability, strong management team, logistics capabilities, established customer base and comprehensive service training programs, enabling Delphi to present one-stop customer support. The addition of Delphi Diesel and Delphi Lockheed Automotive also adds approximately 2,000 soft franchises and 4,000 independent authorized diesel distributors, primarily in Europe, where Delphi's brand will be displayed. Delphi plans to implement similar strategic plans for growth and portfolio enhancement in the North and South American markets. Delphi will offer a diversified, all-makes electronics product line, and will provide superior service and support to its global aftermarket customers. The company plans to offer a broad aftermarket product portfolio with emphasis on electronics under the following categories: electronics (such as engine control modules, sensors and mobile multimedia products like infotainment systems), thermal systems (such as air conditioning components), energy/engine management systems (such as electronic fuel pumps and AGM batteries), diesel products (such as injectors and diesel fuel injection pumps), and under car (such as electronic calipers and driver selectable ride dampers).
