Fun, Food, Family and Fine Cars; Come One ... Come All!!!ROCKLEIGH, N.J., Oct. 26 Ten years ago Volvo invited some of its owners to an Open House at their headquarters in Rockleigh, New Jersey. Since that time, the little get together has grown to a major reunion of Volvo owners and folks who are just plain curious. This year the company expects more than 1500 people to visit from as far away as Canada! On this Saturday, October 28th, there will be an antique Volvo car show, a display of racing cars, pony rides for the kids, a moonwalk, face painting, new car test drives, a swap meet, and a chance to talk with the people who bring Volvos into the United States. The day is open to Volvo owners and non- owners alike. The festivities run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and refreshments will be available all day long. Why does Volvo do it? According to Bob Austin, Volvo's advertising manager, "it helps our employees understand that cars are an important part of people's lives. You really begin to appreciate that when you spend a day with hundreds of owners. It is kind of like a giant family reunion. We all go home feeling great about our work." There will also be a fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation, which helps to grant the wishes of terminally ill children. Starlight volunteers will be selling jackets, shirts, caps and automotive memorabilia donated by Volvo. All the proceeds go directly to the Starlight Foundation. Volvo headquarters is located in Rockleigh, New Jersey in the McBride Industrial Park on Piermont Road. For directions call 201-784-4644 or e-mail lohsend@volvo.com.
