Ronald Phillips Named Vice President of Sales for Foamex Automotive Products Group; Former Lear Executive to Lead Sales Growth Initiatives for North America
LINWOOD, Pa.--Oct. 25, 2000--Foamex International Inc. , North America's largest manufacturer of flexible polyurethane and advanced polymer foam products, announced today the appointment of Ronald Phillips, 50, as Vice President of Sales for the company's Automotive Products Group. The announcement was made by Arthur H. Vartanian, Executive Vice President of the auto group.The Foamex Automotive Products Group manufactures and distributes laminated fabrics, foam rolls and die-cuts, and acoustical and energy-absorbing safety foams, primarily for automotive interiors. Phillips will be responsible for the development and implementation of the group's sales growth initiatives throughout North America.
"Ron is a seasoned automotive industry executive with a proven record of sales and profitability growth," Vartanian said. "His experience in all aspects of automotive parts manufacturing will be an invaluable resource in forging customer relationships and delivering outstanding quality and service to our customers."
Prior to joining Foamex, Phillips was Vice President, Quality for the General Motors Division of Lear Corporation, a $12 billion dollar manufacturer of automotive parts and components. He began his career in 1973 with the Ford Motor Company in Utica, Michigan, and over the next twenty years advanced through a number of engineering, planning and manufacturing positions. He joined Lear in 1993 as Director of Mexican Trim Operations, progressing to senior quality executive in 1999.
Phillips holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit and an MBA from the University of Detroit. He will be located at the Automotive Products Group's headquarters in Southfield, Michigan.
