Five Major Corvette Events Planned For The Upcoming Year Bowling Green, KY - The National Corvette Museum will host five major Corvette events from April to October 2001. Beginning with the C5 Birthday Bash, April 19 - 22, the Museum delights in offering a weekend of festivities showcasing C5 Corvette racing, co-hosted by the Official C5-Registry. Seminars, scenic tours to some of Kentucky's finest attractions, a special auction and banquet and much more are in store for guests attending the event. The month of May will spotlight the fourth generation Corvette with the highly anticipated "The Gathering" scheduled for May 17 - 20. The event is co-hosted by the ZR-1 Net, Team ZR-1, the 40th Anniversary Registry and the Grand Sport Owners Registry. Everything from drag racing to one-of-a-kind seminars will be packed into the agenda that spotlights this elite group. Back by popular demand, the Corvette Forum Cruise-In takes center stage May 24-27. Noted as a first-ever in 2000, this year's celebration promises even more for the event celebrating the Corvette lifestyle. As the year continues, the Museum celebrates its seventh anniversary during the Corvette Celebration and Hall of Fame, August 30 - September 2. The Museum is proud to host the biggest event of the year, by introducing a reunion of Apollo astronauts and their Corvettes, a special motorama display, the official introduction of the 2002 model year and the 4th Annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. Three new members will be inducted into Corvette's Hall of Fame during the special banquet and ceremony. The 2001 calendar wraps up with a celebration of the Pace Car Reunion, October 11-14. Attendees can join proud owners of the 1978, 1986, 1995 and the 1998 Indy Pace Car Corvettes for a first-ever reunion of this significant milestone of Corvette engineering and design. Registered participants to Museum hosted events receive memorabilia, programs and opportunities to meet and greet many Corvette celebrities. Also offered during the weekend are planned scenic road tours through the beautiful winding roads of south central Kentucky. "The 2001 Corvette Calendar of Events showcases an exciting year for the Museum," says Events Coordinator Larry Hayes. "Announcing the Museum's event plans for 2001 will enable many guests and friends to make plans to attend, and have the opportunity to plan ahead. 2001 will be a busy year for the Museum, as we welcome members, supporters and enthusiasts back home to enjoy their National Corvette Museum and share the passion we've all come to know... the Corvette." Museum events draw thousands to the home of the Corvette each year, and contribute significantly to the economy of both the Museum and the community. Many event attendees make the journey several times throughout the year to support and attend Museum events.
