California State Automobile Association Licenses CSC's COLOSSUS System
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 24 Computer Sciences Corporation
announced today that the California State Automobile Association
(CSAA) has signed a multi-year agreement to license COLOSSUS(TM), CSC's
Web-based expert system for evaluating bodily injury claims. CSAA is the
American Automobile Association organization serving Northern California,
Nevada and Utah.
COLOSSUS, which is used to help assimilate and examine facts relevant to
bodily injury claims, is the insurance industry's most comprehensive
knowledge-based claims evaluation system. The software uses more than
10,000 rules to apply its claims, medical and legal expertise to help novice
and seasoned claims professionals when making claims settlements.
"COLOSSUS is an excellent cost-containment tool that will serve our
members well because it will help us provide prompt, fair and equitable claims
adjustment," said Bruce Cunningham, business line development manager for
CSAA. "COLOSSUS makes it easy to train people and ensures that they follow
consistent claims adjusting practices.
"We chose the system because it fits well with the way we're doing
business today. Our claims employees work in virtual offices and will be able
to access the Web-enabled system wherever they are."
"We are pleased CSAA has chosen COLOSSUS to help fulfill its goal of
making claims evaluation available over CSAA's intranet," said Ken Williams,
president, Americas Division of CSC's Financial Services Group. "COLOSSUS
will help CSAA provide superior service to its members."
