Volkswagen Selects ENOVIA Solutions to Support its Digital Mockup Process

    WOLFSBURG, Germany & PARIS--Oct. 24, 2000--The Volkswagen Group, Europe's number one car manufacturer, IBM and Dassault Systemes announced today that Volkswagen has selected ENOVIA Solutions to support design activities throughout the Group. When fully deployed, the agreement will include more than 1000 ENOVIA(VPM) licenses that Volkswagen will use to manage the virtual product development of its passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
    Volkswagen selected ENOVIA(VPM) after extensive evaluation of functions, such as configured product definition, maturity management, versioning and revisioning. ENOVIA(VPM) will support Volkswagen's multidisciplinary teams, including Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing, as they develop new cars within a concurrent engineering environment.
    "To maintain and improve our competitiveness, our product creation process is strongly based on virtual technologies," stated Dr. Trac Tang, Volkswagen senior information technology manager for product creation. "Integrated in our CATIA infrastructure, ENOVIA(VPM) will increase the efficiency of our development teams and accelerate our design and verification processes."
