    FLINT, Mich., Oct. 23 Delphi Automotive Systems'
commitment to quality and excellence was recognized this afternoon, when two
Indiana manufacturing operations and one administrative operation received
State of Indiana Quality Improvement Awards.  Delphi's Anderson Generator
Operations, Anderson Ignition Operations and Indianapolis Battery
Administration and Engineering facilities were presented the awards by
Lt. Gov. Joseph E. Kernan, in a ceremony at the Indianapolis Marriott Hotel.
The award is the only statewide honor with the sole purpose of recognizing and
encouraging companies in their quests for excellence and improved service.

    "We are very pleased Lieutenant Governor Kernan and the State of Indiana
recognize our commitment to quality," said Guy C. Hachey, Delphi Energy &
Chassis Systems president.  "This is a true reflection of the efforts of our
employees, and their dedication to the Delphi mission of quality and
excellence."
    "At Delphi, our vision is to be recognized by our customers as their best
supplier," said Ronald Pogue, business line executive for Energy Management
Systems.  "Both manufacturing operations and the battery engineering and
administration facility are dedicated to improve customer satisfaction.  We
identified our quality goals and worked diligently to reach them."
    Gov. Frank O'Bannon established the State of Indiana Quality Improvement
Award in 1995, when he was lieutenant governor.  The awards are administered
by the Indiana Business Modernization and Technology Corporation (BMT).
Approximately 200 companies were recognized this year.  Additionally, October
has been officially proclaimed, "Indiana Quality Month."
