ESD The Engineering Society & The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences Present e-Manufacturing: Making Manufacturing a Part of e-Business Conference to be Held December 4-5, 2000 in Ann ArborSOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 23 It was only a short time ago that dot-coms were flying high, now many count the days until they close. e- Alliances are ending. Venture funding now requires a real business plan with positive cash flow and eventual profits. Where are we going? ESD The Engineering Society and The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) present a conference titled "e-Manufacturing: Making Manufacturing a Part of e-Business." The conference will be held December 4-5, 2000 at the Sheraton Inn, 3200 Boardwalk, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Increasingly, it appears that there is an emergence of a next generation economy that combines characteristics of traditional businesses with the better characteristics of the dot-coms. The real challenge for both old economy and new economy companies is to quickly identify and develop strategies and tactics for participating in the emerging industrial revolution. The panel of experts will address this issue. David E. Cole of the Center for Automotive Research and Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) will present the keynote address. Jim Heaton, President of KVQuest, Ltd., an expert in e-manufacturing business issues will open the conference both days and moderate the panel discussions.
