Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 20 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 374,240 units, up
from the 367,170 cars and trucks built last week, according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now
totals 14,754,542 vehicles, up 2.4 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 276,271 vehicles this
week, an increase of 2.0 percent from the 270,778 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date, calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
10,742,202 units, up 0.7 percent from the 10,667,744 vehicles built in like-
1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 57,151, an 8.1
percent increase from the 52,883 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,450,614 units, down
0.9 percent compared to the 2,473,997 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S.,
General Motors Corp. accounted for 33.8 percent; Ford Motor Co., 31.5 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 12.7 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 4.7
percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.6 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 2.9
percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 2.8 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc., 1.5 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 2.0 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.8 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler, 0.4 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 0.7 percent; and
other manufacturers, 1.6 percent.
