New Jersey Auto Dealer Robert Maguire Elected NADA ChairmanVirginia Dealer Carter Myers Chosen as Vice Chairman WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 Robert J. Maguire, president of Saturn of Bordentown, Saturn of Toms River and Bob Maguire Chevrolet Inc. in Bordentown, N.J., was elected 2001 chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association at the association's board of directors meeting in Naples, Fla. H. Carter Myers, III, president and CEO of Colonial Auto Center in Charlottesville, Va., was elected vice-chairman. Richard L. Morrison, president of Eero Volkswagen in Anchorage, Alaska, and Saturn of Anchorage was elected as secretary. Pete Greiner, president of Greiner Ford, Casper, Wyo., was re-elected as treasurer. The new officers will assume office on Feb. 5 at NADA's 2001 convention and exposition in Las Vegas. Biography for Robert Maguire, 2001 NADA Chairman: An automobile dealer since 1976, Maguire represents New Jersey's franchised new-car dealers on NADA's board of directors. He was NADA's vice chairman in 2000 and previously represented dealers in the Northeast as regional vice chairman. In 1991, he chaired the NADA convention and exposition in Atlanta. Maguire is a past chairman of the board and a lifetime trustee of the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers. He was a 1986 winner of the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award, sponsored annually by Time, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and NADA to honor professional excellence and community leadership. Active in community affairs, Maguire founded the Bob Maguire Academic Achievement Awards to Outstanding Students, an annual program begun in 1977 to honor academic excellence among eighth-graders in Bordentown. Former New Jersey Gov. Thomas Kean honored Maguire with the Patriotism Award in 1985. An elected member of the New Jersey Republican State Committee since 1988, he is currently active in several civic organizations, including the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and the National Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation in Princeton, N.J. Maguire attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated from Duquesne University. He served as a major in the Marine Corps Ready Reserve from 1958 to 1978. Biography for H. Carter Myers, 2001 NADA Vice Chairman: Carter Myers is president and chief executive officer of Colonial Auto Center in Charlottesville, Colonial Honda in Petersburg and Heritage Chevrolet in Chester, Va., and represents that state's dealers on NADA's board of directors. He is chairman of NADA's Public Affairs committee and serves on the association's Real Estate and Information Technology committees. Myers is past president of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and a past president of the Tri-City New Car Dealers Association. He has served on the boards of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Chamber of Commerce and the University of Virginia Children's Medical Center. He is a past director of the United Way, Thomas Jefferson Area and the YMCA. Myers is a member of Virginia's Commonwealth Transportation Board and the Governor's Economic Development Council. He has served on the Petersburg/Dinwiddie Airport Authority and the Petersburg Planning Commission. In 1987, Myers was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Richmond Metro Chamber.
