2001 AMA amateur national championships set

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- AMA Sports has released its 2001 calendar of amateur and youth national championships: The season kicks off Feb. 3-4 in Eagle River, Wis., with the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Amateur National Ice Racing Championships, and concludes with the AMA Amateur Hillclimb Nationals Aug. 18-19 in Monson, Mass. In addition to the nation's best ice racing and hillclimb riders doing battle, the 2001 season will again be highlighted by the AMA's three major youth and amateur championships: the 25th annual AMA Dirt Track Grand Championships, July 1-7 in and around the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis; the fourth annual AMA Road Race Grand Championships, July 18-19 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio; and the 20th annual AMA Amateur Motocross Nationals, Aug. 5-11 at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.
