DENSO First Wireless Handset Manufacturer to Receive TL 9000 CertificationSOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 18 DENSO Wireless Systems America, Inc., DENSO's wireless manufacturing facility, earned TL 9000 Certification from The Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications (QuEST) Forum. Located in Vista, Calif., DENSO Wireless Systems America is the first wireless handset manufacturer to achieve this distinction. QuEST, a partnership of telecommunications suppliers and service providers founded by Bell Atlantic, BellSouth, Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell, requires companies applying for certification to undergo a year-long process of developing quality systems documentation. TL 9000 Certification provides a telecommunications-specific set of requirements built upon an ISO 9000 framework. DENSO Wireless Systems America Quality Director Ted Johnson said at the QuEST Forum awards ceremony in London, England, "By nature, DENSO practices continuous improvement throughout all of our manufacturing facilities, so it was natural for DENSO Wireless Systems America to adopt the telecommunications industry standards and commit to the year-long process of developing the quality systems documentation." Both DENSO Sales California, Inc. in Long Beach, Calif., and DENSO International America/LA Laboratories, including the sales, marketing, product planning and research and development arms of DENSO Wireless, have begun the process of developing quality systems documentation for all activities leading up to the manufacturing of DENSO handsets for Sprint PCS, Johnson added.
