Cosworth Technology Inc. Opens New Customer Facilities in Novi, Michigan, Following More Than $1 Million InvestmentNOVI, Mich., Oct. 18 Cosworth Technology Ltd, has just commissioned a new Variable Temperature chamber and all-wheel-drive rolling road dynamometer at its Novi, Michigan, base. The VT SHED records the evaporative emissions generated from a car over repetitive temperature test cycles as dictated by Federal and State regulations in the US. Its operational temperature range is 60 to 114 degrees Fahrenheit. During this time the emissions are measured from the static car to check that they meet the national requirement. Another new addition is the Froude Consine all-wheel drive rolling road dynamometer. Each 48-inch roller at the front and rear can handle output of 200 brake horse power at each axle, making a total rating of 400bhp. Adjustment of anything between 6.9 feet and 10.9 feet can be accommodated, meaning it can be used by small cars and the longest wheelbase pick-up trucks. It is also one of the first of its kind in the US to feature electrical connection between the two rollers rather than a mechanical linkage. This facility will be used primarily in the development and test of a varied range of all-wheel drive vehicles. Director of US operations Jonathan Hurden, explained: "These new facilities are the biggest investment to date in our North American operations, further endeavoring our ability to support the US automotive sector. We have much to be proud of and a lot to look forward to."
