Briggs & Stratton Declares Dividend

    MILWAUKEE, Oct. 17 Briggs & Stratton Corporation :
    At the regular quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors of Briggs &
Stratton Corporation, held today, a quarterly dividend of thirty-one cents
($0.31) per share was declared on the common stock of the Corporation, payable
January 2, 2001 to shareholders of record at the close of business December 1,
2000.
