NCMS and TrainingServer Join Forces to Meet Training Needs for the Manufacturing Industry
e-Learning Web Site to Offer Advanced Training Tools and Techniques

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 17 At the Fourth Annual National
Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) Fall Workshop Series and Networking
Forum, NCMS, the largest cross-industry consortium in the United States, and
TrainingServer Inc., a worldwide leader in e-learning management solutions,
today announced a joint effort to develop Learning Atlas(TM), a new e-learning
Web site designed to meet the training needs for the manufacturing industry.
The Web site will be the marketing flagship for the NCMS Educational Services
Initiative and offer learning resources to more than 150 NCMS members, such as
Ford Motor Company, DaimlerChrysler, Eastman Kodak Company, Storage Technology
Corporation (StorageTek), Baxter Healthcare Corporation, United Technologies
Corporation (UTC), Pratt & Whitney, and Adept Technologies.
Learning Atlas(TM) will offer training courses from TrainingServer's B2B
Learning Network(TM) master catalog as well as NCMS-developed courses
customized for NCMS members and the entire manufacturing community. "There
has never been such a need for training to be delivered so quickly and
efficiently as during this time of great transition in the manufacturing
sector. Learning Atlas(TM) will be specifically designed to meet the needs of
NCMS members as well as the greater technical community at large," said Ken
Johnson, NCMS Director of Education Services. "We were looking for a company
that had a proven record in the training software industry. TrainingServer
was clearly the partner of choice for NCMS to deploy its e-learning initiative
given both their track record and dedication to customer service. We are
looking forward to a long-lasting alliance between TrainingServer and NCMS as
we continue to expand our e-learning offerings to the manufacturing
community."
The dominant delivery mode for training will be e-learning from the
Learning Atlas(TM) secure Web site, and instructor-led courses at the NCMS
training center. NCMS members will be able to purchase CD-ROMs, audiotapes
and more than 2,000 titles in manufacturing, business development, information
technology, and health and safety. In addition, NCMS members will be able to
take advantage of autonomous learning communities and collaboration
opportunities offered on the Web site.
"Having an online source for training allows learners to take courses on
their own time and at their own pace. It is a perfect solution for those in
the manufacturing industry with demanding schedules who cannot take the time
to attend a class or are constantly on the road," said Dick Lozeau, chief
learning officer of TrainingServer. "We look forward to developing this
relationship with NCMS and to providing valuable learning resources to its
members. Working with NCMS we will continue to evolve the site and expand our
offerings."
