NIC Delivers Online Driver's License Renewal Service To Tennessee in Just 45 Days
Governor Sundquist to Renew His Driver's License on the Web

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 16 Just 45 days after finalizing
the contract to provide comprehensive eGovernment services for the State of
Tennessee, NIC has successfully delivered online driver's
license renewal services to the State. Tennessee residents can now renew
their drivers' licenses on the Internet from their homes, offices or local
libraries at http://www.TennesseeAnytime.org.
In a symbolic launch of this new service, Governor Sundquist today will
access the state's TennesseeAnytime portal to renew his driver's license
online at the Bordeaux Library in Nashville. "This is the first step in
Tennessee's e-government revolution," stated Governor Sundquist. "Before
long, state government will be open for business 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, 365 days a year."
NIC, the world's largest and most experienced eGovernment solutions
provider, has partnered with the State of Tennessee to develop and manage the
state's enterprise portal and is expecting to launch the next phase of
services in early 2001.
"Our partner governments deserve aggressive launch schedules that deliver
faster results," said Jim Dodd, President and CEO of NIC. "The foundation for
the Tennessee enterprise portal was up and running within 30 days, and our
first application was available to citizens within 45 days, which should be
new speed records for the eGovernment space." Dodd continued: "NIC is
committed to providing the highest possible level of service to the State of
Tennessee, and I'm proud of how we identified a solution to meet Tennessee's
needs and then took it from the drawing board to live launch in such a short
time period. Working together as partners, NIC and the State of Tennessee
will continue to develop Internet applications to save taxpayers time and
money."
NIC is the world's most experienced eGovernment solutions provider,
dedicated to positively transforming the relationships among citizens,
businesses and government. Through federal, state, local and global
government partnerships, NIC manages millions of transactions and hundreds of
applications that are accessible to more than 160 million people worldwide.
