South Florida International Auto Show Sets Attendance MarkMIAMI, Oct. 16 The 30th anniversary South Florida International Auto Show, which ended this year's 10-day run at the Miami Beach Convention Center on Sunday, October 15, announced a new attendance record of 642,710 persons. The attendance in 1999 was 582,463. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000925/FLTH099LOGO ) The annual exhibition, considered among the nation's top auto shows, featured the U.S. debuts of Saturn's first-ever SUV, Kia's Optima and Volvo's S60. The show also featured such new models as Ford's 2002 Explorer, Chrysler's Sebring, Hyundai's Elantra and Daewoo's Lanos coupe. The exhibit attracted automotive writers from throughout the hemisphere and generated coverage in such national consumer media as The Wall Street Journal and CBS' "60 Minutes." "Our show has become an excellent place to view the latest models," said Richard A. Baker, auto show manager. "It's a place to pick out the car of your dreams." Other popular exhibits included "Million Dollar Alley," with its display of exotic and one-of-a-kind cars; "Memory Lane," with classic cars dating back to the 1920s; and "Auto Show Mall," full of automotive, home and business accessories. The South Florida International Auto Show is sponsored by the South Florida Auto-Truck Dealers Association, which comprises more than 220 dealers in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties. The 31st annual South Florida International Auto Show is scheduled for October 26 to November 4, 2001, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
