The annual exhibition, considered among the nation's top auto shows,
featured the U.S. debuts of Saturn's first-ever SUV, Kia's Optima and Volvo's
S60. The show also featured such new models as Ford's 2002 Explorer,
Chrysler's Sebring, Hyundai's Elantra and Daewoo's Lanos coupe. The exhibit
attracted automotive writers from throughout the hemisphere and generated
coverage in such national consumer media as The Wall Street Journal and CBS'
"60 Minutes."
"Our show has become an excellent place to view the latest models," said
Richard A. Baker, auto show manager. "It's a place to pick out the car of
your dreams."
Other popular exhibits included "Million Dollar Alley," with its display
of exotic and one-of-a-kind cars; "Memory Lane," with classic cars dating back
to the 1920s; and "Auto Show Mall," full of automotive, home and business
accessories.
The South Florida International Auto Show is sponsored by the South
Florida Auto-Truck Dealers Association, which comprises more than 220 dealers
