Yazaki North America Helps Deliver Technology's Promise With Convergence 2000 Sponsorship
CANTON, Mich., Oct. 16 Yazaki North America, Inc.
(Yazaki), a leading supplier of vehicle power and data solutions to the
automotive industry, today announced its support of the advancement of the
electronics/electrical industry through its sponsorship of Convergence 2000.
Yazaki, an industry leader in the development of advanced technology such as
42-volt vehicle networks and fiber optic data transfer networks, is a Gold
Sponsor of this year's event, the largest in its history.
"As one of the leading suppliers of electrical and electronic components
to the automotive industry, Yazaki wanted to show its support for Convergence
and the importance of bringing the industry together to share ideas and to
promote what has become the fastest growing content of an automobile," said
Tetsuro Suzuki, Yazaki's president and CEO. "We are extremely proud to be a
Gold Sponsor of this prestigious industry event."
In keeping with this year's theme, "Automotive Electronics: Delivering
Technology's Promise," Yazaki will display its most recent advances in the
area of 42-volt technology. On hand will be a Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee that
dramatically demonstrates Yazaki's solution to the complex problem of power
delivery to loads requiring varying degrees of voltage, such as lamps. The
joint Yazaki/JCI solution also demonstrates the applicability of 42-volts to
other major vehicle components such as the alternator and starter.
Additionally, Yazaki will be displaying its application of MOST technology,
one of the standards being considered for multimedia data transfer, including
telematics.
The full product offering of Yazaki will be available for examination as
well, including wire harnesses, connectors, instrumentation, switches, fiber
optics, and junction blocks.
The world's premier automotive electronics conference, Convergence 2000 is
sponsored by the Convergence Transportation Electronics Association (CTEA),
which founded the conference more than 25 years ago; the Institute of
Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE); and the Society of Automotive
Engineers (SAE). Proceeds form the conference benefit the Convergence
Education Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to developing a
passion for mathematics and science in inner-city, school-aged children.
YNA is a global leader in the design and development of vehicle
infrastructure and networking products including translation devices which are
the physical conduit for MOST network implementation. Yazaki produces many
components associated with electrical distribution systems. They include
instrumentation, junction blocks, connector systems, electronic wiring systems
