Event Tests Dealer Sales Consultants on Product KnowledgeCYPRESS, Calif. - Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, as part of an ongoing national initiative to raise the bar on creating satisfied customers, gave awards to top sales consultants during its 2000 Product Walkaround Competition this week. The sales consultants, who excelled in dealer, district and regional competitions, vied for top national honors. Winners were: national champion Kyle Hind of Gene Messer Mitsubishi, Lubbock, Texas; first runner up Herb Edwards, Norco Mitsubishi, Norco California; and second runner up, John Zito, of Sarasota Mitsubishi, Sarasota Florida. The annual National Product Walkaround Competition is designed to test sales consultants' strength in delivering an optimum sales presentation to Mitsubishi customers. The presentation covered Mitsubishi product knowledge, advantages over competing products and overall communication skills. All 525 Mitsubishi Motors dealers were eligible to participate. "This competition offers great benefits for our sales consultants as well as our customers," said Pierre Gagnon, executive vice president and COO of MMSA. "Consultants are recognized for their efforts in delivering a quality, customer-friendly sales experience and our customers are offered an enhanced, comprehensive presentation of Mitsubishi products by knowledgeable staff." This year's national competition focused on a 28-minute presentation, plus a bonus question, on the newly redesigned 2001 Montero luxury sports utility vehicle. Each regional champion presented to a "Mitsubishi customer" while a panel of judges rated the presentation. The panel was comprised of key staff from various departments within Mitsubishi Motors, including corporate communications, service, product planning and retail development. Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. was established in 1982 by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Tokyo, and markets a full line of vehicles, including coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles.
