ARCA: Captain Kirk takes Talladega pole

Talladega, Ala, 10-12-00 - Kirk Shelmerdine, in the CLR Ford, won the pole handily for Saturday's ARCA Winn-Dixie 300 Thursday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway with a speed of 190.579 mph. Defending race winner Bob Strait, in the Dauphin Tech Ford, checked in 2nd quickest at 188.935. Times and speeds were disallowed on the following drivers in 1st round qualifying Thursday at Talladega Superspeedway: Tim Steele & Bob Schacht - Failed to meet minimum rear spoiler height.
