Printronix Qualifies as a GM 1724 Compliance Certification Agent

IRVINE, Calif.--Oct. 12, 2000--General Motors Corp. recently designated Printronix as an official compliance-certifying agent.
As such, Printronix will assist GM's suppliers in meeting new compliance labeling requirements for shipping labels used on parts that flow through the GM supply chain.
These new compliance labeling requirements, called the GM 1724 Shipping Label Template, require suppliers to follow a strictly-specified label format for parts shipped to GM. Thousands of GM suppliers are affected by these new requirements, either by the necessity to upgrade their current bar code printers or to replace them entirely. Adherence to these requirements will show an increase in assembly operation efficiency by providing more information about parts as they pass through GM's production lines.
"Printronix, a global supplier of industrial printers to the automotive industry, is ready to help GM suppliers meet the new GM 1724 compliance labeling requirements," said Henry Schmidt, director of Automotive Industry Business Unit, Worldwide. "Our multi-technology printers are 2D bar code capable and are already used by many of these suppliers. We are fully committed to working with them to gain compliance certification with those printers."
Printronix is the leader in multitechnology "Supply Chain Printing Solutions," which provide remotely managed printers that produce documents of all types in ERP network printing systems of businesses around the world. Printronix manufactures three types of applications-compatible printers -- fanfold laser, line matrix, and thermal.
Printronix common stock is traded over-the-counter under the Nasdaq symbol PTNX. Contact the company at www.printronix.com.
