AMI-C Selects SmartMove to Participate on the Development Team For AMI-C's Release 2DETROIT, Oct. 12 The Automotive Multimedia Interface Collaboration (AMI-C) has selected SmartMove, the Belgium- and USA-based telematics infrastructure software and hardware developer, to participate on the development team responsible for producing AMI-C's next phase specifications, Release 2. The selection is conditional upon final legal agreements being signed. AMI-C is a consortium of 12 global vehicle manufacturers whose goal is to develop unified technical communication specifications to allow cellular phones, PDAs, compact disc changers and many other electronic devices to work interchangeably among vehicle types. SmartMove, one of Europe's leading telematics software and hardware suppliers, has developed a Java-based Open Telematics Framework that enables service aggregators to provide secure transactions, billing, encryption, updates and upgrades on-the-fly and all the other business functions necessary to complete in-vehicle transactions. This completely open, protocol-neutral technology allows automakers, technology suppliers and application developers to create scalable end-to-end solutions and enables seamless access to outside services and vehicle information.
