Superior Industries Wins Dodge Ram Aluminum Wheel Contract; Increases Recent New Orders Total to About $120 Million

VAN NUYS, Calif.--Oct. 11, 2000--Superior Industries International Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a new aluminum wheel supply contract by DaimlerChrysler for the 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Including this contract, in the past few weeks Superior has won new and replacement aluminum wheel contracts from major OEM customers valued at approximately $120 million annually.
"We are pleased by this latest new order from DaimlerChrysler and by the increasingly close relationship Superior is building with this important customer. Our success in expanding our share of the growing global market for aluminum road wheels is a tribute to our total commitment to quality and customer service," a Superior Industries spokesman said.
"Last year we committed to significantly expanding our manufacturing capacity in anticipation of Superior's continued growth in the aluminum wheel market. As part of this expansion program, we have now completed construction of a new building near our existing facility in Chihuahua, Mexico," said the spokesman.
"We expect to complete installation of state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment at this facility, and have the new plant up and running on schedule during the first quarter 2001. All of our other expansion programs are also on plan and on budget. This significant increase in capacity will allow Superior to provide the highest quality products and best possible service to our expanding customer base," the spokesman added.
