Powerway Accelerates Focus On Collaborative E-business Solutions for Global Automotive Industry With New Detroit Office and Key Strategic Team
INDIANAPOLIS--Oct. 10, 2000--Signaling its steadfast commitment to providing performance solutions for the global automotive industry and its supply chain, Powerway, Inc. today announced that it will open a Detroit area office to be staffed with a strategic team of consulting, training, marketing and sales professionals.
Powerway has a long-standing relationship with the automotive industry through its deep roots in quality, engineering and manufacturing document management. A pioneer in advanced collaborative e-business solutions, Powerway moves this relationship to the next level with the introduction of Powerway.com, the first collaborative Internet workplace dedicated to improving performance across the extended global supply chain.
"The Detroit area is where our customers are and where we want to be," Mike Campbell, Powerway CEO, said today. "Our office will house a team of professionals with strong ties and expertise within the automotive industry and its complex extended supply chain, as well as a clear vision of Powerway.com's value to our customers. Powerway.com will enable global collaboration in a reliable, secure environment - speeding critical time-to-market processes, increasing profitability and productivity and reducing warranty costs at all levels of the automotive supply chain from the supplier base up to the OEMs."
Leading the Powerway team will be Jerry Abbott, who today was named vice president of consulting services. With a broad background in automotive manufacturing, engineering, professional services and e-commerce, Abbott will leverage his experience building and deploying a full-service consulting force to facilitate implementations and systems integration.
Abbott comes to Powerway from Eviciti, a strategic e-business planning, development and consulting firm, where he served as president and chief operating officer since 1998. Prior to that, Abbott was director of Mark IV Automotive's fuel systems division. He also spent nearly 10 years with Benteler Industries, a German automotive supply company, rising to executive sales director.
"Because of the Internet, companies are able to experience unprecedented levels of digital communication, collaboration and exchange between their extended enterprise," Abbott stated. "Powerway's applications and products will expand the enterprise creating all new business ecosystems. Our team will help ensure that our customers leverage these solutions for maximum benefits."
Also, Powerway announced today that Ken Kratz has been named to the newly created position of vice president of global automotive markets. Kratz has serviced strategic accounts in the automotive industry for Powerway for the past five years, cultivating strong relationships with many of Powerway's customers as well as a first-hand understanding of the intricacies of the supply chain.
"Ken is a senior, experienced professional who knows the challenges the auto industry faces in speeding time-to-market while maintaining quality and reducing warranty costs. In his expanded role, he will drive the next level of development of Powerway's collaborative e-business solutions for its customers," CEO Campbell said. He added that additional staff announcements in Detroit are forthcoming.
