Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle to Open L.A. Auto Show Media Days as MPG Keynote Speaker
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle is an
influential figure in the luxury car market. As group vice president of Ford
Motor Company's Premier Automotive Group, Reitzle is responsible for
overseeing the worldwide operations of Lincoln, Jaguar, Volvo, Land Rover and
Aston Martin.
Reitzle, who has an avid appreciation of classic marques, will share his
passion and vision of the international premium car market and direction of
the Premier Automotive Group as the keynote speaker at the Motor Press Guild
Breakfast on Thursday, January 4, which is the first of two media days at the
2001 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show.
Reitzle, who was instrumental in reshaping California's automotive
landscape by relocating the North American headquarters of Volvo, Jaguar, Land
Rover and Aston Martin to the West Coast, joined Ford after 23 years with
BMW AG. He spent 13 of those years as a board member where he was credited
with bringing many of the German company's most successful products to market.
"Mr. Reitzle is one of the most capable, interesting and dynamic
executives in the car business, and this will be the first time he's addressed
the West Coast media," explains Scott Oldham, president of MPG and senior
editor of Auto World Weekly. "He's clearly an important person for our
members to get to know and am confident his participation as the MPG keynote
speaker will get this year's show off to an awesome start."
Following Reitzle's remarks will be a comprehensive schedule of
manufacturer news conferences. Many automakers are finalizing their plans,
but if last year's record of three dozen World and North American production
and concept vehicle debuts are any indication, this year's L.A. Auto Show will
continue to provide newsworthy introductions.
