DaimlerChrysler Corporation Announces Formation Of Hybrid Electric Vehicle PlatformAUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 5 DaimlerChrysler Corporation announced today the creation of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle Engineering platform. In conjunction with this announcement, effective immediately, Lawrence J. Oswald is appointed Vice President - Hybrid Electric Vehicle Engineering platform, reporting to Bernard I. Robertson, Senior Vice President - Engineering Technologies & General Manager Truck Operations. In this position, Oswald is responsible for leading DCC's aggressive Hybrid Electric Vehicle programs and establishing DaimlerChrysler as the benchmark in hybrid vehicle development. "The creation of this organization signifies DaimlerChrysler's commitment to leadership in advanced and alternative powertrain development," said Robertson. "It also signifies our commitment to deploying hybrid electric vehicles as rapidly as possible." Prior to this assignment, Oswald served as Director - Body Engineering for Liberty & Technical Affairs. Reporting to Oswald will be, Robert L. Davis, Director - Advanced Electric Propulsion Systems and Randall J. Ryszewski, Senior Manager - EPIC EV Program. An additional organizational structure for the Hybrid Electric Engineering platform will be announced at a later date.
