Satyam Infoway Launches Automotive Portal

    CHENNAI, India--Oct. 4, 2000--Satyam Infoway Ltd. (Nasdaq National Market:SIFY) India's premier Internet and e-commerce company, today announced the launch of AutoWebex.com, a portal for the automotive industry. Its aim is to serve as a 'Business Efficiency Enabler' providing global reach.
    AutoWebex.com, part of a series of SIFY B2B vertical portals, offers features such as 'e-Troubleshooting' and 'CAD Conversion,' which are among the first in the world on a B2B automotive portal.
    Mr. Ram Mohan, Satyam Infoway Limited, President B2B e-Commerce said "The launch of AutoWebex.com will enable Indian and global auto industries to do business effectively and efficiently irrespective of size and location. Companies will benefit mainly from the increased speed of doing business, cost-reduction, global reach and industry information. AutoWebex will offer a secure marketplace with exclusive and customizable e-office capabilities for each company. Each will be able to perform vendor development activities on the portal in addition to e-procurement, and marketing and sales activities for non-production/indirect materials. In addition to a tender module, AutoWebex offers a user-initiated, real-time forward and reverse auction module."
    Collaborative tools such as e-Troubleshooting will allow companies to address quality defects, warranty issues and design problems using a digital image and discussion board in a secure virtual conference room providing for multiple participants.
    The CAD Conversion module will give flexibility to designers and applications engineers, allowing the conversion of any CAD drawing from one platform to another (e.g. IDEAS to AutoCAD); making it possible for companies to do business around the globe using different CAD systems.
    Industry Information such as news, data, events calendar, and business and technical articles also will be available.
    AutoWebex.com was developed on XML technology using an Oracle database that enables the portal to be adaptable to future developments.
    Mr. Ram Mohan said that in the near future AutoWebex.com plans to offer an array of additional modules and applications services (ASPs), including supply chain management, direct material purchase, on-line project management, and after-market and demand aggregation modules. It also will offer enhanced value services such as public key infrastructure (PKI), on-line payment using P-Card, and on-line logistical support.
