Eagle Moves Tech Group From Manual Keyboard Entry to Bar Coding and Scanning

    KINNELON, N.J.--Oct. 4, 2000--With four organizational divisions and nine different databases to maintain, Phoenix-based Tech Group needed faster data entry than manual keystrokes could provide. The company found the speed and accuracy they were seeking in Eagle Consulting and Development's RF Express(TM) for MFG/PRO(R), the automated data collection product specifically designed and developed for QAD MFG/PRO.
    The Tech Group, which makes injection-molded plastics for the medical and consumer technology industries, has multiple locations within their organization, making production reporting and inventory control critical operational functions. "Over time we recognized a need to bring in bar coding and scanning capabilities," said Jenny Tolar, system analyst for Tech Group. "Much of what we had done had been manual keyboard entry. We wanted something that was quicker and more accurate -- that was tightly integrated with MFG/PRO."
    Tech Group rolled out RF Express for MFG/PRO at one facility and will deploy across all four divisions. Tolar said of their early results, "In one area of production reporting we're seeing immediate input into the system. It definitely has improved the efficiency of that operation. We really expect to see results in our inventory control, too."
