NASCAR WWEST: Top Ten Finish Spells Relief for Woodside

TOP TEN FINISH SPELLS RELIEF FOR WOODSIDE

October 2, 2000 (Palmdale, Calif.) - Sean Woodside, driver of the REF
Motorsports #4 Pontiac in the Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring,
and the REF team were pleased and a little relieved to finish in 7th place
in Saturday night's Snap-on 100 at Altamont Raceway Park in Tracy, Calif.

Currently fourth in the point standings, a string of back luck, including
both accidents and mechanical problems, has frustrated the team's attempts
to move up. Hopefully, last Saturday's solid finish will set a precedent
for the team's performance in the final three races of the season, and
help them either solidify or improve their place in the standings.

If Woodside and the team are able to continue the momentum this weekend
in the Food 4 Less 150 at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway, they could overtake
third place in the championship standings this Saturday, which they currently
trail by just 23 points.

In his last effort at Irwindale Speedway, the July 29th Southwest Series
event, Woodside turned in an impressive performance, finishing the race
in third place after posting a third place qualifying effort. Patience
and tire management were key factors in his success in that event.

"I was really glad to see our luck turn around a little. We were there
at the end, and we did well, considering where we started the race," Woodside
offered concerning the Altamont race and his 19th place starting position.

Looking forward to this Saturday's Food 4 Less 150, Woodside said "We
have a lot of laps at Irwindale, and we had a great run there in July.
Although we weren't at Friday's test session, we can use what we learned
at Irwindale our last time out. Our goal is to be there at the end with
a good finish at least, and, hopefully, a win."
