    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 3 Federal-Mogul Corporation
today announced that its Logansport, Indiana, facility has been
selected to receive the 2000 State of Indiana Quality Improvement Award in
recognition of its outstanding leadership and achievement.

    The State of Indiana Quality Improvement Award recognizes the quality
improvement of Indiana companies and organizations and celebrates quality
achievements.
     "Being awarded the State of Indiana Award for the second time, recognizes
the hard work and dedication of all employees at the Logansport facility,"
said Darlene Lytle, quality manager.  "Our focus on just-in-time, constraint
management, and 5S methodology has given us the tools for continued and
consistent improvement."
    The award is designed to recognize both corporate and individual efforts
and encourages continuous improvement.  Recipients should demonstrate
significant progress in achieving stated quality improvement goals and be role
models, sharing their experiences with other organizations.
    Some of Logansport's accomplishments include:
    *  Improved pieces per labor hour productivity by 9 percent.
    *  Reduced scrap as a percent of sales by 30 percent.
    *  Reduced customer returned parts per million by 58 percent.

    The award will be presented in ceremonies at the Indianapolis Marriott on
October 23, 2000.  Mike Sobieski, plant manager, along with members of the
plant staff, will be attending these ceremonies to accept this award on behalf
of the Logansport facility.
    The Indiana Business Modernization and Technology Corporation (BMT)
administers this award which is part of the commitment by the Indiana State
government to support Hoosier companies and organizations in their quest for
excellence and improved service.  October has been officially proclaimed
"Indiana Quality Month".
    Logansport manufacturers electrical, mechanical, diesel and marine fuel
system components for original equipment and aftermarket customers.  The
facility employs approximately 550 and has received a broad range of quality
certifications and honors from customers.
