Hyundai Continues Strong Sales Pace; September Sales Up 37% Over Last Year
    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 3 Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 20,919 vehicles for the month of September, up
37 percent from one year ago.  On a year-to-date basis, Hyundai sales are now
57% over 1999 levels.  "Hyundai's sales momentum remains strong.  We are
especially excited about the three new models coming on stream in October; the
Santa Fe sport utility vehicle, the XG300 4-door sedan, and the all-new
Elantra are now available for sale," said Robert Cosmai, Vice President,
Sales.
    "Elantra continues to be the volume leader for Hyundai with sales of
10,010 units in September.  Elantra sales year-to-date are up 45 percent over
last year," Cosmai said.  "Our flagship Sonata sedan sold 3,627 units, up
86 percent from last year.
    "The Hyundai product line is backed by The Hyundai Advantage, America's
Best Warranty which includes our 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain
warranty," Cosmai added.  "In addition, our dealers are really focused on the
franchise and their enthusiasm for the brand is paying off with increased
sales."
