Volvo Reports Strong Year-To-Date Sales; Two New Models Launched in September

    ROCKLEIGH, N.J., Oct. 3 Volvo Cars of North America, Inc.
continues to show strong year-to-date sales performance with a 12.2% increase
over 1999.  Recently launched Cross Country and soon to be launched S60 will
further strengthen Volvo's record year-to-date sales.
    "We are pleased with our year-to-date results which demonstrates broad
customer acceptance of our new product lineup.  The all new Cross Country is
experiencing a fantastic launch and we just introduced our  normally aspirated
Sportswagon," comments Mark LaNeve, President and CEO, Volvo Cars of North
America.  "September sales were adversely affected as we are selling down our
2000 models and are not up to full availability on the 2001 program including
the new S60 and Cross Country models."
