EWRX Inks Two-Year Exclusive Alliance With Auto Parts Etc. for Commerce One-based BigBadCatalog.com
BELLINGHAM, Wash., Oct. 3 EWRX Internet Systems Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: EWRX) today announced it has
signed a comprehensive software development and marketing alliance with
Auto Parts Etc. Together, EWRX and Auto Parts Etc. will build BigBadCatalog on
the Commerce One Content Engine. BigBadCatalog is EWRX's online parts and
accessories catalog to capture a share of the $24 billion a year specialty
automotive aftermarket.
EWRX and Auto Parts Etc. will be the first to integrate the Commerce One
technology into the specialty automotive aftermarket. In addition, this new
alliance will expand the B2B platform to create the first comprehensive
B2C online e-commerce parts and accessories catalog for classic cars, light
trucks, racing, street performance, rod and custom cars and restyling markets.
The software development and marketing alliance ensures long-term
compatibility between BigBadCatalog and the emerging parts and accessories
e-commerce standards being defined by the world's major automotive
manufactures via Covisint. Announced in February 2000, Covisint is an
automotive e-business trading exchange being formed by DaimlerChrysler,
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Renault/Nissan.
BigBadCatalog will create three related revenue streams for EWRX:
(1) Development revenue from the creation of specialty B2B and B2C e-commerce
web sites that tie into the common data repository, (2) operating revenue from
data conversion and hosting fees paid by manufacturers, and (3) sales revenue
generated from parts and accessories sales via BigBadCatalog.
"By using Commerce One technology EWRX will enable easy interoperability
with other exchanges operated by Commerce One such as Covisint, the largest
B2B e-commerce project to date in the general automotive marketplace," said
Ron Davis, president & CEO of EWRX. "By ensuring BigBadCatalog is compatible
with de facto industry standards, it will be the premier B2C e-commerce
channel for parts and accessories manufactures and distributors in the
specialty automotive aftermarket. This puts us first on the playing field with
a very powerful group of companies and sets the stage for EWRX to launch its
e-commerce platform.
"We are pleased to see Auto Parts Etc extending the use of our technology
by partnering with EWRX," and are excited to be working with Auto Parts Etc.
and EWRX Internet Systems to build BigBadCatalog on top of Commerce One's
market leading e-commerce infrastructure," said Dr. Amos Barzilay, Vice
President of Commerce One and General Manager of the Content Group.
"The specialty automotive aftermarket is a very exciting market
opportunity to expand our auto parts information repository," said Dave La
Barre, president and CEO of Auto Parts Etc. "EWRX has a tremendous
understanding of the specialty market and their online e-Communities provide
great visibility to hook consumers up with the parts and accessories they
want. Together with EWRX we are committed to delivering the most comprehensive
online repository of automotive parts and accessories in an efficient,
easy-to-navigate framework," La Barre said.
EWRX, Auto Parts Etc, and Commerce One representatives will introduce
BigBadCatalog to the industry at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing
Association) Show (Booth #14808 in Silver Hall 2) in Las Vegas beginning
October 30th. 2000.
