Collins & Aikman Names Miller Senior Director -- Design for Global Product Development Division
TROY, Mich.--Oct. 3, 2000--Collins & Aikman Corporation today announced the appointment of Gregory C. Miller as Senior Director of Design for its Global Product Development Division.In making the announcement, Graham Tompson, Senior Vice President for the Division, noted "Miller's extensive global design expertise and knowledge about the automotive industry will enhance our ability to develop and produce innovative products for our customers worldwide. We're very excited that an industry veteran like Miller has joined our team and I'm confident that with his design experience and leadership skills, he'll immediately add value to both Collins & Aikman and our customers."
Miller brings more than 15 years of domestic and global design experience to Collins & Aikman. His most recent assignment was with Ford Motor Company as Design Manager for its Truck Vehicle Center Color and Trim department. Miller has been involved with design aspects of several car and truck programs for Ford including the complete instrumental panel design theme for the 1995 Lincoln Continental, Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis. Additionally, he was involved in the exterior design feasibility/development for the 1998 F-Super Duty, 1998 Ranger, and 1999 F-150. While at Ford's Hiroshima Design Center, he followed design exterior feasibility for the 1996 Ford Escort, Tracer and ZX2 programs and, most notably the 2001 Ford Escape. Miller was also involved in the initial interior and exterior design development of the Mark III Golf and Jetta programs for Volkswagen located in Duesseldorf, Germany. He began his design career at the General Motors Technical Center as a Design Intern working on the Buick Wildcat show car and the following year as a Design Intern with Ford's Truck department. Miller earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Center For Creative Studies, Detroit, Mich.
