Dais Inc. and SmallHill Inc. Merge to Create Quivox Systems Inc., Provider of Online Claims and Underwriting Information Tools

LOS ANGELES--Oct. 3, 2000--Dais Inc., a developer of online, business-to-business claims management and underwriting solutions for the property and casualty insurance industry, and SmallHill Inc., a developer of production management software for the automobile physical damage repair industry, today joined their assets to form a new company, Quivox Systems Inc., which will provide insurance carriers, collision repair facilities and other trading partners comprehensive business-to-business claims and information management systems.
Quivox Systems, with headquarters in Los Angeles, offers an Internet-enabled, browser-based system that will allow insurance companies and their trading partners (e.g., collision repair shops, rental car companies and third-party adjusters) to access and share end-to-end, detailed claims information, including real-time status reporting.
"For the first time, insurers can have online access to all critical claims information that cuts across all lines of coverage, and incorporates underwriting information, all of which creates significant efficiency and savings, and enhances customer service. The industry has been asking for this technology for over a decade," observed Pete Tagliapietra, co-founder of Quivox.

    Quivox Now Offers Two Products.

Quivox Systems' initial products include eShopScheduler and eDocExpress. "eShopScheduler intelligently manages repair tasks across an entire repair shop, or network of shops," said Ed Mohr, co-founder of Quivox. Developed by SmallHill, eShopScheduler is the industry's first fully automated collision repair production scheduler. It enables repair shops to improve on-time delivery, reduce cycle time, and lower shop operating costs, while also lowering carriers' loss adjustment expense and enhancing customer satisfaction, according to management.
"Because eShopScheduler improves on-time delivery and cycle-time performance, we believe it will set a new standard in the industry," remarked co-founder Ted Hill.
eDocExpress, developed by Dais, incorporates CIECA (Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association) industry standards to provide insurers, their staff and their trading partners with online access to a broad array of information on any line of insurance coverage within any individual claim.
Quivox expects immediately to commercialize its products, each of which has proven itself in successful pilots.
As a result of the merger, eDocExpress will be able to link claims data to repair data generated real-time on shop floors by eShopScheduler, both on a shop-by-shop and multi-shop basis. The integration of eDocExpress and eShopScheduler will allow Quivox to provide additional value-added services, including claims data warehousing, shop network load-balancing and shop operating performance reporting.
"Together, our products will allow insurers and shops to build performance-based partnerships that ultimately benefit consumers," commented co-founder Dayle Phillips.
Quivox Systems' founders will take senior management positions at the new company.
