AutoPlanet Signs Licensing Agreement With MOTOR Information Systems

    MINNEAPOLIS--Oct. 2, 2000--

AutoPlanet will provide car repair pricing information as part of its comprehensive online service

AutoPlanet(TM), the intelligent automotive supersite launching this fall at www.autoplanet.com, announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with MOTOR Information Systems to give AutoPlanet users the ability to estimate the cost of auto repairs online. The license agreement permits AutoPlanet to make data derived from the MOTOR Information Systems automotive repair guides available on its site. The guides are used by mechanics and auto repair shops to estimate parts and labor pricing.
"Our license agreement with MOTOR Information Systems allows AutoPlanet to help consumers make more informed decisions about the care of their vehicles," said AutoPlanet founder and CEO Jeff Pester. "Consumers can go to the AutoPlanet website and look up estimated prices for car repairs before bringing their vehicles into the repair shop. This helps put some of the power back into consumer's hands, because they will have a better idea of what a fair price is for repairs."
MOTOR Information Systems, a division of Hearst Business Media, is the world's premier supplier of automotive data. MOTOR's mission since 1903 has been to provide consumers with unbiased, accurate, authoritative and reliable information in consistent, easy-to-use formats.
AutoPlanet, launching this fall at www.autoplanet.com, will serve as the intelligent automotive supersite that helps car owners make better decisions by giving them comprehensive and unbiased information, smart vehicle management tools, and the advantage of remaining anonymous while using the service. AutoPlanet also offers marketers unique opportunities for highly targeted message delivery on the AutoPlanet service and via permission-based communication programs.
The Company recently gave away four of the year's hottest new vehicles, including the Acura RL, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Honda S2000 Roadster and the Toyota Land Cruiser, in a pre-launch sweepstakes that ended September 22, 2000. AutoPlanet's offices are located in Minneapolis at 800 Washington Avenue North, Suite 321. Contact the company at www.autoplanet.com or 612.373.6030.
