Sense Technologies Inc. Demonstrates Vehicle Back-up Safety Device to DOT and NHTSA Officials; Doppler Radar Sets Standard For Back-Up Warning Devices

OMAHA, Neb.--Oct. 2, 2000--Gerry McIlhargey, President, Sense Technologies Inc. (CNDX:SSE), announced that in the past week the company has demonstrated various models of its new programmable Guardian Alert(TM) back-up collision warning device to senior officials of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in Washington, D.C.
Sense management also met with members of Congress to request a study and legislation requiring back-up warning devices on segments of the vehicle population. Several members of Congress have called for the DOT to conduct a study to determine the value of electronic back-up devices with regard to saving lives and the cost effectiveness of increased efficiency and reduction of vehicle downtime.
"We are pleased to have Congress take the initial steps in the legislative process. Management is confident the study will demonstrate the necessity of installing an electronic collision-warning device on certain segments of the vehicle population. We also believe Doppler microwave radar is superior to other sciences and will set the standard for back-up warning devices," said McIlhargey.
The patented, FCC approved Guardian Alert acts as another set of `eyes' to detect obstacles behind a vehicle that may not be visible to the driver, such as a small child. It alerts the driver of an impending collision using Doppler microwave radar technology to determine when an obstacle is behind the vehicle. When an object is detected, the sensing unit sends both audio and visual warnings to the driver.
Sense has also requested that Congress name the new law "C.J.'s Law," as a continuing memorial to C.J. Norton, a four-year-old boy who was killed by a delivery truck in a back-up accident.
Sense Technologies Inc. is a leader in intellectual properties in microwave safety products for the automotive industry. The company is publicly traded on NASDAQ (SNSG) and Canadian Venture Exchange (SSE).
