Subaru of America, Inc. Reports September Sales; Year-to-Date Sales Totals are up 11 Percent From Last Year

    CHERRY HILL, N.J., Oct. 2 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA)
today announced sales figures for the month of September.  Subaru recorded a
sales total of 13,895 units for the month, down slightly (6 percent) from the
same period in 1999.  Year-to-date totals of 128,298 units are up 11 percent
from September 1999 year-to-date totals of 115,597 units.
    The Legacy model line achieved a sales total of 7,602 units, with Legacy
sedan sales up 6 percent from the same period in 1999.  Outback accounted for
5,460 units for the month of September.  Forester posted sales of 4,773 units,
the second best September for this model since its introduction in CY1997.
Impreza posted sales of 1,520 units for the month.
