Paris Show Lights Up, Firestone Faces New Saga at www.TheCarConnection.com
DETROIT, Oct. 2 It's another week, and another recall for
Ford and Firestone. But for a change in recent times, the recall fiascos have
been outmaneuvered by even bigger news -- the 2000 Paris Auto show (le Mondial
de l'Automobile for you Francophiles), which featured a brace of new vehicles
from Ferrari, Volvo, and Ford, as well as the end of a reign for one of
Detroit's future hall-of-fame car designers.
This week at TheCarConnection.com , we will take you to the floor of the
Paris Auto Show, which hosted the world debuts for the Ferrari 550 Barchetta,
BMW M3, Ford Mondeo, and a raft of new entries from Europe's automakers, from
cute city cars to green-minded environmental concepts. And TCC will catch up
with DaimlerChrysler board member Tom Gale, set to retire by year's end.
Elsewhere, TCC will bring you up to date on the Ford/Firestone saga as
well, and put you behind the wheel of a couple of '01 models that will leave
you wanting more -- namely, the Mercedes-Benz CLK55 and Ford Harley Davidson
F-150 SuperCrew.
You'll find lots more at TheCarConnection.com , including service tips
from TCC's resident gearhead Bob Weber; buying, selling, and leasing tips; and
a wide range of news, views, and reviews from the automotive world's top
columnists and correspondents.
TCC will help you find the right price for new and used cars - and give
you the tips you need to be a smarter shopper or seller. Let TCC's On-Site
Mechanic help you keep your car running in top shape. And TCC's very own
