CLEVELAND--Oct. 2, 2000--An estimated 2.5 million consumers will have opportunity to sample
alcohol-free Coleman(R) hand sanitizer and first-aid antiseptic
Picture thousands of Harley Davidson riders rallying in Sturgis, SD, millions of NASCAR(R) fans across the country racing to speedways to cheer on their favorite driver and hundreds of fisherman casting in the SFFA Gulfcoast Championship in Destin, Fla. It is events such as these that attract millions of outdoor enthusiasts. Empyrean Bioscience (OTCBB:EMDG) has teamed up with the industry leader in outdoor supplies and equipment, The Coleman Company, Inc., to appeal to the significant number of outdoor, sporting and recreational enthusiasts that are "out there."
Each year, Coleman launches the Out There(TM) Tour, an extensive national events marketing campaign with an estimated attendance of 2.5 million. This year, the Coleman(R) brand hand sanitizer and first-aid antiseptic with advanced Preventx(R) is included on the tour, along with other Coleman products that help make outdoor adventure even better.
"We're moving forward with our consumer marketing efforts in the outdoor/sporting and recreational market," said Sandra J. Rakar, director of marketing for Empyrean Bioscience, maker of Preventx(R) Hand Sanitizer and First-Aid Antiseptic. "With our involvement in Coleman's Out There(TM) Tour, we have the opportunity to introduce outdoor enthusiasts to the benefits of the Coleman(R) brand hand sanitizer with advanced Preventx(R) and tap into a new market, one in which Coleman already carries 90 percent brand awareness among consumers."
The Out There(TM) Tour consists of a fleet of dark green semi-trucks each branded with the company's red and white logo and colorful outdoor images. Throughout the year, these trucks make special appearances at a variety of sporting/recreational and outdoor events across the country, from fishing tournaments to RV conventions. Coleman's trucks are each equipped with the latest innovations in outdoor supplies and equipment, and offer event attendees product samples and repair services for Coleman products.
Empyrean officially kicked off their involvement in the tour at the NASCAR(R) race at the Michigan Speedway, Brooklyn, Mich., August 17-20. With the conclusion of the NASCAR(R) race at Michigan Speedway, the Coleman Out There(TM) Tour moved on to the following events through December:

From a marketing perspective, this is an incredible opportunity for our company and product to move to the next level with increased awareness, distribution and sales in the outdoor/recreational market."
In addition to Empyrean's involvement in the Coleman Out There(TM) Tour, the consumer products company has been involved in other Coleman-sponsored events aimed at the outdoor/sporting and recreation consumer. Prior to their involvement in the tour, Empyrean's Coleman(R) brand hand sanitizer was distributed in sample foil packs to Jeep owners who attended this year's Coleman Camp Jeep in Blue Ridge Mountains, Va., August 10-12.
Last year, Empyrean Bioscience signed a licensing agreement with The Coleman Company, Inc. enabling the company to market its hand sanitizer, towelettes and disinfectant surface spray in the U.S. and Canada using the Coleman trademark, primarily to the outdoor/recreational, sporting goods and hardware channels.
The Coleman Hand Sanitizer and First-Aid Antiseptic with advanced Preventx(R) kills 99.9% of disease-causing germs for up to four hours. The alcohol-free, aloe-enriched formula is non-irritating and does not cause chapping or drying of the skin. It moisturizes and conditions skin while it sanitizes, and can also be used as a first-aid antiseptic to help heal minor cuts, scrapes and burns.
The hand sanitizer and first-aid antiseptic -- both Preventx(R) and Coleman(R) brands -- is Empyrean's initial product offering. Having been popular for its alcohol-free and long-lasting capabilities, Preventx(R) Hand Sanitizer & First-Aid Antiseptic had its first success in sales to commercial and institutional customers and is currently being introduced to consumers nationwide at the retail level. The national introduction follows successful retail market testing of the new product.
The Coleman Company, Inc., which will celebrate its centennial in 2001, manufactures and distributes a wide range of outdoor products for camping and leisure-time activities. Coleman products can be found at sporting goods stores, mass merchants and hardware home centers across the United States, Canada and more than 100 other countries around the world.
