INDY LIGHTS: Dorricott Members Dominate C.A.M. Awards

HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 29, 2000) - Eight "behind the scenes" heroes from Dorricott Racing were honored at the annual Championship Association of Mechanics (CAM) Crewmember Awards, presented by Snap-On, Thursday, Sept. 28. CAM celebrated its 11th season in 2000 and once again recognized outstanding performances from its members working within the Toyota Atlantic, Indy Lights, and CHAMP car series.' A total of 15 Indy Lights CAM members were honored including four for their line of specialty and a 11-member "All-Star" team. As in past years, the CAM Awards were voted by peers where each candidate's performance was strictly based on each award's required merit. Shane Seneviratne, of Pasadena, Calif., was named PI Research/CAM Data Specialist of the Year. Seneviratne was distinguished from among his peers for outstanding performance in data acquisition. Seneviratne also received a selection of software valued at $1,000. Kerry Dunn, of Bakersfield, Calif., was honored with the Air Products/CAM High Pressure Award. The award is voted upon by CAM member Chief Mechanics who wish to recognize the chief mechanic who has admirably performed despite adversity under pressure situations. Dunn was presented with a $1,000 award check from Air Products. Mike Wagner, of Bakersfield, Calif., was voted the Dayton/CAM Indy Lights Tire Specialist of the Year. Dayton tire specialists, technicians and engineers recognized Wagner for his high standard of professionalism. Dayton Tires presented Wagner with a $1,000 award check. Five Dorricott teammates were named to the Snap-On/CAM Indy Lights All Star Team, which is composed of 11 crew members, and was voted by the member Chief Mechanics. Fritz Kroyer, of Bakersfield, Calif., was named the series all-star Fabricator for a second consecutive year. Rick Wagner, of Bakersfield, Calif., was named all-star Tire Specialist. All-star honors in Data/Engineering were bestowed to Burke Harrison, of Sebastopol, Calif. Ethan Brown, of Santa Rosa, Calif., was voted to the all-star team as one of three chosen mechanics, while Sam Goldsmith, of Barstow, was named all-star Chief Mechanic.
