Nissan North America Appoints New Finance VP/CFO

    CARSON, Calif., Sept. 29 Nissan North America, Inc. today
announced the promotion of Ronald N. Petty to vice president of Finance and
Chief Financial Officer, effective November 1.  He will be responsible for
corporate finance, accounting, financial analysis, tax, treasury and vehicle
profit and cost management.
    During his 15-year career at Nissan, Petty has served as Senior Director
of Corporate Finance; Director of Information Systems and Director of Finance.
Additionally, Petty was responsible for the development and administration of
Nissan's U.S. manufacturing operations' business information systems and
company-wide information service policies, objectives and technology
infrastructure.
    "Ron Petty's strong financial background, proven track record and
dedication will be invaluable in our on-going efforts to strengthen Nissan in
North America," says Jim Morton, senior vice president, Administration and
Finance.
    Before joining Nissan, Petty worked for the Internal Revenue Service
holding various positions such as examination case manager and Internal
Revenue agent with the coordinated examination program.
    Petty's previous duties as Director of Corporate Finance will be assumed
by Mary Berst, who currently serves as corporate manager of financial analysis
and budgeting.
    Ron Petty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the
University of Tennessee.  He is a certified public accountant and a member of
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He serves on the
Advisory Board for the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, Technology Task
Force.
    He will be relocating to Los Angeles from his current home in Smyrna,
Tennessee.
