Delco Remy International Announces Change to Calendar Year

    ANDERSON, Ind., Sept. 29 Delco Remy International, Inc.
, a leading supplier of aftermarket and OEM electrical systems and
powertrain/drivetrain products for automotive and heavy duty and industrial
applications, today announced that it will change its fiscal year end from
July 31 to December 31, effective at the close of business on September 30,
2000.
    "This change will put our fiscal year on the same basis as that of the
majority of our original equipment and aftermarket customers and competitors,
thereby facilitating the review of our financial results by analysts and our
shareholders," said Tim Gargaro, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer.  "We will begin reporting on a calendar year basis beginning with the
third quarter ending September 30, 2000."

been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Form 8-K.  This
