Visteon Innovation Customizes the Driving Experience - Interior Products And Technologies on Display at the 2000 Mondial de L'Automobile
PARIS, Sept. 29 Visteon Corporation has
developed a leading-edge tool that recreates the way car interiors will be
designed in the future. Visteon's design tool, Thalie, is being displayed for
the first time at the Paris Show, which will run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 15.
Thalie is a tool developed by Visteon to assist in the decision-making
process of vehicle interior design. User preferences for the interior of the
vehicle are defined from consumer insight and industry data.
At the preliminary design stage, Thalie provides Visteon interior
designers with a list of preferred terms and materials that describe the
interior vehicle environment that is sought by the vehicle manufacturer. The
result of this is that Visteon designers, stylists and engineers are able to
develop a palette of materials, textures and colors. This list of "multi-
sensory terms and materials" enables Visteon's interior designers to begin
creating a vehicle interior that truly fits those characteristics sought by
consumers.
"Thalie allows effective integration of the influence of the local culture
on the interior decoration of the vehicle, and encourages a written consensus
within multi-disciplinary teams during the early design stage," said Joel
Coque, managing director of Visteon Interior Systems for France and South
America. "This management tool significantly accelerates the interior design
process by allowing quick decision-making and helping to reduce the chance of
late changes in the model program."
This original approach to designing car interiors led to Visteon's
development of Slush Universal(TM), a sturdy material made from TPO
(thermalpolyolefin) powder that preserves texture and color over time. The
manufacturing process of Slush Universal(TM) easily accommodates for multiple
combinations of color and texture options, increasing flexibility for vehicle
manufacturers so that they can deliver personalized solutions to consumers.
Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service supplier that delivers
consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and
through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket. Visteon
has a global delivery system of more than 130 technical, manufacturing, sales,
and service facilities located in 23 countries. It has 81,000 employees
working in three business segments: Dynamics and Energy Conversion; Comfort,
Communication and Safety; and Glass.
Visteon's booth is located at 4 Booth 134A, at the Mondial de
L'Automobile.
